Library Updates 

Library helpers are welcome to come to the library during 1st Nutrition Break. The library will be closed 2nd Nutrition Break.

It is time to start organizing the book fair that is coming to Eldorado in November. Would library council members on Team 1 (Luca, Sana, Rafay, Nia, Zahra, Simran, Ria, Livleen, Gurnoor K, Aleeza, Aabirah and Mahrosh) as well as Team 3 (Aswin, Sampreet, Saatvik, Karizma and Amirant) please come to the library 1st Nutrition Break.  These two teams will be Library Council from October to March.  


Celebrating Islamic Heritage Month 

The Aga Khan Museum in Toronto is a great architectural addition to the Toronto art scene. It holds stunning Islamic artifacts from around the world. The Aga Khan, leader of 15 million Ismaili Muslims worldwide, became an honorary Canadian citizen in 2009. The Aga Khan is involved in humanitarian and development projects in Asia and Africa.

Just a reminder to Eldorado that on Halloween we all need to demonstrate our commitment to our values, including respect, responsibility and inclusion.

Malcolm X, also known as El-Hajj al-Malik el-Shabaaz, was an African-American Muslim who was one of the greatest champions for American civil rights in the 1960s. He encouraged Black Americans to be proud of who they are.

Halloween Dance - October 31st Grades 6,7,8

Guess what Eldorado?!  Halloween is just around the corner and that means your Student Parliament will be hosting our annual Halloween Dance on Thursday, October 31st during periods 6 and 7 for students in grades 6,7 and 8!


Admission is only $2.15 per ticket and exclusively sold on Cash Online. 
If you would rather not attend the dance, you may go to the games/study room - no charge!


Pop, chips and glow sticks will be sold at the dance for $1.00 each. Don't forget to capture a picture of you and your friends at our Photo Booth as well. 


If you have song suggestions, please list them on the chart on Mr. Reilly's classroom door.


All proceeds will be going to Eldorado's Breakfast Program.

Celebrating Islamic Heritage Month 

Muslim women have had the right to vote since the beginning of Islam in the 7th century. Female politicians have been heads of state and well represented in government and political positions in many Muslim-majority countries. In fact, several Islamic countries have also had female heads of state, including Pakistan, Indonesia, Bangladesh and Turkey.

-You must know how to log on to a Chrome Book
-Students are allowed to bring their own device to use during the test
-NO calculators!  Only scrap paper/pencil allowed!
-Students can practice the night before online (*optional) by logging on to the Caribou site

“Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee,” famous words of the world famous heavyweight boxing champion and Olympic champion - Muhammad Ali. He was born Cassius Clay, and converted to Islam in 1965. Muhammad Ali opposed the United States' war in Vietnam. He opposed the war and the killing of innocent people, and for these beliefs he was stripped of his titles and lost millions of dollars and his reputation. However, after this setback, he eventually regained the title.

Celebrating Islamic Heritage Month


Muslims fast for 30 days every year in the month of Ramadan. It is one of the five pillars of Islam. Muslims don't eat or drink from sunrise to sunset to experience what it feels like to be poor and hungry, and to focus on self-control in order to be a better person. Once the month is over Muslims celebrate with family and friends for up to three days. This celebration is called Eid-al-Fitr.

Many of you have heard of the schoolgirl, Malala Yousafzai. From the young age of 11, she was involved in the struggle for girls' education in Northern Pakistan. This brave young girl survived an attack by those who didn't support education of girls. Malala used this difficult experience to champion education rights for all girls around the world. She won the Nobel Peace Prize in 2014 at the age of 17.
